So, this was the first time Of Montreal had performed in Australia. What better way to start off the tour than to have it at our very own Perth International Arts Festival! I wish I was seeing more Perth Festival shows but it seems to coincide with my work travels this year. Though, upon saying that, if there ever was a best indie show of the festival then I’d say that this one was it. A flock of indie kids moshing at the Box couldn’t be wrong!
I can’t say I was paying too much attention to the show though. No wait, I was paying attention but there was just too much happening on stage! I have to make a comment about the acid-flashback that was the animation projected behind them. Three words… “What. The. Fuck.” Couple that with the random theatrics on stage… such as “The Blessing” above and “The Faun“Â Â screaming into the dark… who could understand the whole show? Not to their detriment though, it was just a crazy-mad performance. No wonder the kids were raving about it!
While there are a couple more photos from my Flickr photostream, this time around I took photos for FasterLouder. It doesn’t happen often but it’s a great way to “shoot differently”. Also, cheers to Courtney for giving this opportunity up to me while she went off to shoot Coldplay. I think it was almost a win-win situation here!
